Fairy Tale Land

Yesterday, we went on a road trip to the Loire Valley. As we meandered through the countryside, we saw many castles right out of fairy tales. We stopped to tour a couple of them. One was built as a hunting lodge so it was somewhat rustic as castles go. There was one room with an entire wall of antlers. They had a double helix staircase where two people could go up at the same time and see each other through the "windows" but never cross paths. Very cool! They happened to be having a "game fair" while we were there so we saw many of the locals with their picnics, Wellingtons, and hunting outfits. As we toured the castle, we could hear dogs barking and guns shooting . . . probably not unlike the days when the castle was inhabited.

The second one had much of the beauty of Versailles and none of the crowds. I had the whole third floor to myself. There were beautiful views all around of the river and grounds.

On the way home we visited the site of Sina and Nate's dream vacation home . . . Montresor. (Translation: My treasure) This is the place where porchsitting reaches its highest evolutionary level.
