My New Life as a Criminal

So I was geocaching in Riverton today . . . Chris and I stopped for a cache and noticed a police officer passing us on the other side of the street.   (I'd like to mention here that I was parked legally and not looking for the cache on private property.)    I noticed the officer turn around and come back in our direction, but thought little of it since we weren't doing anything suspicious-like except for looking funny at a street sign.  We got back in the car and continued on to the next cache.  I looked in the rear view mirror and noticed that the officer was following us.  I thought about when I had last changed the registration stickers on my license plate.  June.  Wasn't that.  It was daylight so I didn't have a headlight out.  I wasn't speeding.  OK, must not be following my car.  I turned a couple of corners and he was still behind us, but then disappeared.  Phew!  Then suddenly, a different officer appeared and started to follow us.  I made sure I was going the speed limit, and turned on my turn signal exactly 3 seconds before turning down a small side street.  Sure enough, he followed.  I turned again onto a dead end street and he didn't follow.  Phew!  But. . . . I looked in the mirror again and saw that he had parked at the corner.  Hmmm, strange.  We continued on toward the cache.  When I looked back again, I saw that there were now two police cars.  He called for backup!  The two cars headed in our direction.  We got out of the car.  (I wondered if they were going to aim their guns at us and tell us to put our hands up or get back in the car.  I think maybe I watch too many cop shows.)  They asked us what we were doing (and, I think, took their first good look at us), then at the same time, all four of us said, "Geocaching."  We all had a good laugh as they told us that there had been some drug activity in the area that they had first seen us and said that my driving was "suspicious."  Here they are calling in the results of their chase and probably giving this little street the most excitement they've seen in a while.  The cache is near the tree on the right, in case you were wondering.

First Time on Snowshoes!

Why didn't anyone ever tell me how much fun showshoeing is?  I'm hooked!  These photos are from the area between Guardsman Pass and Solitude in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Thanksgiving at the Deli-Subs 2010

Thanksgiving with the Deli-Subs is one of my favorite holiday traditions.

I've been hearing about Mom Bread's new coupon shopping hobby for quite a while and finally got to see her in action.  We got 10 jars of spaghetti sauce, 10 boxes of pasta, 12 cans of green beans, and maybe some other stuff (help me here, MB) for 74 cents.  Amazing!

I was very prepared to see a lot of rain during my visit, but the weather turned out to be more Minnesota-like than Seattle-like.

Here's Baloney with Flat Stanley, who was also visiting for the week.  They are melting snow on the wood burning stove because the power AND the water were out.  It was very pioneer-like (except for the hum of the generator).

Pickle went to get eggs from the chickens and found one that was frozen solid.  He was way excited to crack it open and see what it looked like inside.

Their new house has a kids' dream kind of backyard.  They went sledding on their hill, and even made a jump.  They also used their sleds to haul wood for the stove.

Ready?  Go!

Thanksgiving ended up being pretty quiet as most of the guests were snowed in at home.  Those of us who were there had a Foosball tournament.  Who knew Mom Bread was so competitive?  Dad Bread was the champion.
