Pike's Place Market in Seattle is celebrating their 100th anniversary this month. As part of the celebration, there are artistically decorated pigs all over the city. Some examples . . . Pearls Before Swine (wearing pearl necklaces), Piggy Bank (with pennies all over and dollars for eyes, and (my favorite) Green Eggs and Ham, found in front of the library.

Green eggs and ham reminded me that I have been wanting to request a children's book list from you. Could you please list your top five (or more) reads for children 7-10 years old. The boy and I have enjoyed your suggestions in the past and would just like some more. thanks, cpr
Here's a link to the SLC Library's booklist. http://www.slcpl.lib.ut.us/details.jsp?parent_id=265&page_id=271
The "Books for Reading Aloud" link has a lot of good ones. I haven't read all of the ones on the list, but the ones I have read were all REALLY good. I think the Deli-Sub's are reading A Long Way from Chicago, which I recently read and thoroughly enjoyed.
Some of my other favorites are: Freckle Juice, Stink the ___ Shrinking Kid, Flat Stanley, Wayside School is Falling Down, Frindle, and anything by Roald Dahl.
For SR to read on his own, some good series are Junie B. Jones, Horrible Harry, Magic Tree House, Secrets of Droon, Mr. Putter and Tabby, Henry and Mudge, and Frog & Toad.
Enjoy!
I have clearly missed a huge summer of you. Looks like a fabulous time and I hope to see you sometime before the year is out!
